Volunteers for Hub NeededWe are looking for more volunteers to join our team and support the succesful Night Time Safety Hub on a Friday or Saturday night.
‘Every shift is different. It varies from supporting any of the homeless people in the area looking for a hot drink and a chat, to, offering a quiet space for anyone who’s found their night out a little overwhelming. I would definitely recommend joining the Windsor Street Angels to anyone who is looking for a volunteer role!’
Windsor Street Angels are currently recruiting volunteers to assist in their exciting new safety initiative. In October 2018 we launched our night time Safety Hub from the Windsor Baptist Church in order to offer even greater support to those in need.
In company with officers from Thames Valley Police and Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service, as well as outreach workers from Resilience, the Hub Angels conduct a very similar role to the Street Angels but instead of patrolling the town the Hub team are based in the church throughout the Friday and Saturday evening shifts.
From 10pm until 3am on both evenings the doors to the Baptist Church are open, allowing anyone in need of sanctuary, safety, support or first aid to access help.
Working in a wonderful atmosphere alongside an incredibly supportive team, the role of the Hub Angel is both varied and highly enjoyable. Every shift is different from assisting people who have become unwell or have no means of getting home to offering soup and sleeping bags to the homeless, to helping those individuals who are feeling anxious or upset.
The work of the Hub Angels team compliments that of the patrolling Street Angels who since 2012 have supported over 30,000 people! During the opening hours of the hub the Street Angels will be on their patrols and regularly direct or escort people back to the church.
If you are looking for an exciting new challenge and to make a significant difference to the night time community of Windsor we would love to hear from you.
To apply for the role of Hub Angel or to find out more about the position please contact Windsor Street Angels Co-ordinator PCSO David Bullock on firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to hearing from you.
